The Military Workout – The Latest Exercise Craze

Just when you got used to the idea of doing a nice calm class of yoga for your fitness routine, the next trend decides to pop up in gyms and via personal trainers – the military workout. This is a far cry from the stretching and breathing of your Pilates or your kickboxing class; this is a class that is designed to work your muscles harder than you ever have thought possible.

Why Are People Trying This?

While you might think that the military workout is for those that like pain, this isn’t generally the case. These kinds of difficult workouts are for those clients that want something completely different than what they’ve grown accustomed to. Running on a treadmill or lifting weights can only do so much when you do the same thing day in and day out. That’s why military workout classes are coming to your town.

Each of the military workout classes is different and will have a lot of the activities determined by the space and equipment available. In some classes, you will be in a traditional gym setting, but have to perform pushups and sit ups for the entire duration. You may have an instructor that will shout orders to the class participants (or ‘recruits’) and require that everyone wear fatigues. But this will vary.

You can generally expect to do a lot of basic exercises like running and sprints, as well as non-traditional exercises like crawling, climbing over walls as well as rope climbing and obstacle courses. Military workout classes are always different and challenging for all skill levels of exerciser.

Do I Need To Be In Great Shape Before I Go?

This is a concern for many people who want to try a military workout. And the answer is difficult to give because each class is different. The best advice is to find a military workout class that will allow you to try out one class to see if you can keep up. If you can’t, you may want to do some training on your own and then go back to the class when you feel more comfortable. If you find that you have enjoyed the class, then you’ve found a match for you.

If you’re new to working out, you may want to save a military workout for later in your experience. Or you might want to find a military workout video and try it out for yourself in the comfort of your living room. Those that have been exercising for a while will enjoy the new challenges of the workout as well as the camaraderie that you find in doing something difficult with other people.

These military workout classes are very hard and while the movements aren’t difficult, they do require that you have a lot of stamina and endurance to keep up with everyone else. If you have a military class that has an instructor that barks orders, you may find that you need to be mentally tough as well as physically able.
