All of the exercises are designed to increase overall stamina and strength by building muscle as well as increasing heart and lung capacity. And while this might seem a little unnecessary, think about the conditions of a battlefield – then you’ll see how training these systems becomes important.
Starting with the heart and lungs, running is the most basic exercise for an Army physical training program. Anyone can run, but this exercise also doesn’t require any special equipment besides shoes and you can do it anywhere. If you’re not ready to run, you can start with combining walking and running together – interspersing walking with running until you can run the entire exercise time.
Next on the list in an Army physical training program is the basic exercises that will build strength. That would mean things like chin ups, sit ups, and pushups. While these aren’t the most glamorous exercises, they are the best for creating a balanced body with strong muscles. These exercises work out the larger muscles which then can support the smaller muscles of the body to help any kind of movement.
