When you’re already in good shape, the Army Physical Fitness Standard might seem easy, but you don’t have to be a regular exerciser in order to reap the benefits. Those that are beginners can start out an Army training program quite simply with a mix of walking and jogging even, progressing to the running standards.
What Is Involved In The Standards?
The Army Physical Fitness Standard includes a running program that calls for several miles of running each day of training. Many beginners need to work their way up to this, but when you’re just starting out, it’s a much better idea to do the training in that slow and steady fashion than to try to run five miles without any experience doing so. When you jump into exercise too quickly, you can cause stress fractures or even more serious health issues.
Is It Going To Take A Long Time For Me To Reach The Standards?
Again, the main determiner of how fast you will reach the Army Physical Fitness Standard is reliant on your current fitness levels. If you’ve been committed to an intense exercise regimen for the past year or so, you most certainly should be able to reach the Army’s standards. However, if you were exercising, but then needed to take a few months off for injury or some other reason, you may find it difficult to reach the standards as quickly.
It’s difficult to set a time limit on the Army Physical Fitness Standard because every body is different and every person will approach their training differently. The harder you work the better shape you will get into and the faster you can reach the basic standards for Army recruits. You may want to think of your training like basic training in the way that you can’t just ‘quit’ when you feel tired or sore. Recruits need to continue through the program until they collapse. Of course, you don’t have to collapse to get to the standards, but you also shouldn’t be too easy on yourself.
The Army Physical Fitness Standard is a great way to focus your current fitness routine and make sure that you’re not allowing yourself to become complacent with your fitness. You have clear goals to meet and exceed.
